Weight Allowances for PCS Moves
Below you can find the latest weight allowance values per military grade. Please note that the values are in pounds. They are taken from the latest JTR (Joint Travel Regulations).

What are weight allowances?
According to the Joint Travel Regulations, weight allowances are named the maximum amount of weight of household goods a service member is authorized to move at the government’s expense. Amounts are in pounds.
What can be counted towards HHG weight?
Any type of standard household goods can be counted towards your movable weight allowance. These could be (and not limited to):
- Furniture: Beds, sofas, tables, chairs, dressers, bookcases.
- House Appliances: Washers, dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, mixers, coffee machines.
- Personal Items: Clothes, shoes, books, dishes, linens, toys.
- Electronics: TVs, computers, gaming consoles, speakers.
- Garage/Shed Items: Tools, lawnmowers, outdoor furniture, sports equipment.
- Vehicles: If moving via PPM (Personally Procured Move), the weight of items in your vehicle (or the car itself) may be included depending on how your PPM weight tickets are done.
